Welcome to my personal web site. My name is Reuel Kim and one of my greatest passions lies in filmmaking. Expressing myself through the moving picture is something I have always enjoyed. Fourteen years after I started playing with the camera, I still get worked up with excitement.

I love filmmaking because each production is different every time and I can continually challenge myself. It's work that's intellectually, technically, emotionally, and physically intense. That can make it tiresome at times, but it's all worth it. There's nothing like the satisfaction I get from hearing audiences laugh, applaud, and emotionally respond to my films. When someone comes up to me and says, "I really liked your film," it's not only flattering, but it's also deeply gratifying to know that I've somehow stirred that person's heart and mind.

Of course, filmmaking is not the only thing I live for. I love music, still photography, and books, to name a few. There's also always family, friends, and God, which form the core of my life. The Korean American community is also very important to me. As part of my growth as an artist, I've realized how much my Korean American identity defines who I am. As a result, I've involved myself more with the Korean American community and the larger Asian American community. This is reflected by some of my films, such as Breaking Out of the Bubble and Centennial Heroes, and my involvement in community programs such as the Los Angeles Korean International Film Festival and UCLA's Korean Culture Night.

I'm currently finishing up my MFA degree in film production at USC's School of Cinematic Arts and working as a freelance filmmaker. Thanks for visiting my site. Soli Deo Gloria.
